The Unnamed Boyfriend Goes To Court
In 2025, the Miami Herald gave an update about the case. A man, described as her boyfriend, who was unnamed in their report, was living with Venika and her son
“A judge sentenced a New Jersey man to federal prison after he pleaded guilty to stealing nearly $20,000 in benefits meant for his missing girlfriend’s disabled son, federal prosecutors say.”
It was also shared that six days after Venika went missing, the 37-year-old boyfriend “changed the PIN to her debit card to take ‘control’ of her son’s monthly benefits issued by the Social Security Administration’s Supplemental Security Income program.”
He was later sentenced to three years and two months for wire fraud and aggravated identity theft. Further, he received an additional eight months of prison “because he violated conditions of his supervised release.”
