While police searched from helicopters, a mother and her neighbors combed the grounds of their east Dallas apartment complex. Ten-year-old Tasha Shante Wright disappeared on October 14, 1989, after delivering a message from her mother to another resident of the Valley Glen Apartments sometime between 10:30 and 10:50 a.m. The neighbor confirmed that Tasha arrived, but the little girl never made it back to her own apartment.

More than 100 officers searched for Tasha, a fourth-grade student at Bayles Elementary School. The investigation eventually grew beyond the apartment complex, but authorities found no trace of the missing child. More than three decades later, her disappearance remains unsolved.

Tasha lived with her family at the Valley Glen Apartments on Hollybush Drive near Ferguson Road in Dallas, Texas. She was enrolled in her school’s gifted and talented program and enjoyed music, dancing, and swimming.
