To begin, there is some discrepancy about when Taranika actually went missing. Some agencies list the date as November 10, 1995, while others list it as November 13. Either way, Taranika was last seen at her New Orleans home on North Derbigny Street around 10:00 p.m. Two hours later, her mother decided to check on her. It was then that Taranika’s mom noticed she wasn’t home.
According to reports, the teen was as normal as any other kid her age. It was also stated that she received good grades and liked bingo, skating, sports, and singing. Who she spent time with, or her social circles, have not been mentioned in any reports.
It is unknown if Taranika had any contact with anyone before vanishing. It is also unclear if any personal items were missing along with her. The status of the investigation and whether New Orleans detectives recovered any evidence or information tied to the case are also mysteries. However, The Charley Project reported that the authorities have treated this case as Taranika leaving of her own accord, voluntarily.
