Nearly a month after a Worcester teenager disappeared from her family’s home, her cellphone provided a possible clue hundreds of miles away. Police said Sue Maniyon Paye’s phone last pinged in Brooklyn, New York, on Feb. 7, 2022, and investigators contacted the New York Police Department as the search expanded beyond Massachusetts, according to Spectrum News 1.
Sue had been missing since Jan. 9. She was 15 and lived on Mason Street in Worcester when her mother, Roseline Potipah, last saw her before leaving for church. When Potipah returned, Sue was gone along with an overnight bag and some clothing, reports The Charley Project.
Her family believed Sue may have walked to Worcester’s Union Station and taken a bus to New York City, a trip she had made before. ThisWeekinWorcester reported that police knew Sue used buses and had previously traveled to New York.

The Search Reached New York
By February 2022, Sue’s parents were publicly pleading for their daughter to come home. Family members, friends, and community leaders gathered outside Union Station before later holding a prayer vigil at Christ Worship Center in Worcester. Her father, Farley Kegbeh, told Spectrum News 1 that the family still believed Sue would be found.
Her family also searched for her in Brooklyn. Kegbeh believed Sue’s increasing involvement with religion before her disappearance could be connected to where she went and traveled to New York looking for her at a Deeper Life Bible Church. The Charley Project reports that a credit card belonging to Sue’s mother was also used at a Brooklyn restaurant.
No evidence publicly released by investigators has established that Sue was staying at the church or that anyone associated with it was involved in her disappearance.
Worcester police told reporters at the time that Sue appeared to have left home voluntarily, but her age made the case a high priority. Her disappearance remained unresolved when Unsolved: Worcester revisited the case in March 2023.
The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children continues to list Sue as missing.

At the time of her disappearance, Sue Maniyon Paye stood 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighed about 140 pounds. She had black hair and brown eyes. Sue was 15 when she disappeared and turned 20 in August 2026. Her middle name is “Maniyon.”
