A young college student who worked overnight shifts at John F. Kennedy International Airport disappeared during an uncommon evening away from her usual routine. Stacy A. Pennant had gone to see a movie with a coworker before dropping him off in Brooklyn, New York, on February 9, 1995. She was expected to return to her mother’s home in Queens, but the 21-year-old never arrived.
Her newly purchased blue Honda Civic also vanished. Investigators have not located either Stacy or her vehicle, leaving them without a confirmed account of what happened after she drove away from her friend’s neighborhood.
Born and raised in Jamaica, Stacy graduated from Arden High School in Kingston before relocating to New York City with her mother in 1992. They settled in Laurelton, Queens, where Stacy enrolled at Queensborough Community College to study business. She maintained excellent grades while working full-time as a cargo agent for Delta Air Lines at Kennedy Airport.
Her mother, Deva Walters, described a responsible young woman whose days largely revolved around school and work. Going out socially was unusual for Stacy, making her disappearance particularly troubling to those who knew her.
