Family and friends gathered for a vigil in October 2026 to mark one year since a Northern California teenager disappeared after leaving her grandmother’s home. Morgan Amina Crenshaw was 17 when she traveled from Antioch to Oakland in September 2025. Her cellphone was eventually found along an Oakland street, and investigators later recovered a vehicle seen in surveillance footage involving Morgan. However, the high school student has never been located.
In an October 5 report by KTVU, authorities confirmed they had identified persons of interest, though they had not announced any arrests.
Morgan’s older sister, Jaionyi Kennard, previously described her as an uplifting young woman who could make people happy even when they were having a difficult day. She was a straight-A student who planned to pursue a nursing degree after graduating from high school.
“You can’t sit around her and be sad,” Kennard told NBC Bay Area.
The sisters typically spoke at least every other day. When Morgan stopped responding, her family feared something had happened to her.
