Stephanie Ray Clemons, 55: Last Seen At Florida Apt Doing Laundry In 2018
Police don't believe that she left of her own accord.
Around noon on May 20, 2018, a person was walking through their apartment complex and spotted 55-year-old Stephanie Ray Clemons in the laundry room. The two neighbors kept on about their businesses without interrupting one another. Little did they know that would be the last time anyone could verify Stephanie's whereabouts.

For the remainder of that day, Stephanie’s daughter, Earlene Ray, reportedly called and texted her mother but received no response. Stephanie wasn’t a woman prone to spontaneity or ignoring her family. She worked as a phlebotomist at the Jackson Memorial Hospital in Florida and is described as detailed. She wasn’t known to be ill, mentally unstable, or even upset at the time of her disappearance. Her family reported her missing, and the Miramar Police Department doesn’t believe that Stephanie left of her own accord.
The Investigation
Further, the investigation shows that Stephanie’s bank and other personal accounts haven’t seen any movement. Her car was found parked at her apartment complex in its usual spot, undisturbed and lacking any evidence of foul play. She never called in or returned to work. There is no indication that she went on a trip or vacation because none of her belongings were packed or missing. No one heard from her.
“Any help, any minute information you might have about Stephanie would be definitely needed and appreciated,” said Miramar Detective Carlos Villalona.
“Help us, please,” said Earlene through tears. “I was just letting her know I love her, I still love her. I just want you to bring her home. Please help me find her.”
In 2021, Stephanie’s sister Sylvia Ray told NBC 6, “My sister, if she was going to call out or be sick, she would have called in. She is just that type of person.”
Niece Tiffany Ray added, “She loves to be with her family, so it’s really weird that she’s not here. We have no clue where she is.”
It was further reported by NBC Miami in 2021 that Stephanie’s estranged husband, Jack Freeman Jr., was questioned by the authorities and was named as a person of interest. Detectives did state that there were text messages showing tense conversations between Stephanie and her husband just days before she disappeared. Police revealed Freeman had a long history of domestic violence.
An Update In 2023
Then, in July 2023, NBC 6 News reported that police descended on Bernard Park in Miramar, Florida. Police tape surrounded an area containing possible evidence of the five-year-old disappearance. However, the status of their investigation remains under wraps.
