Latisha Hayes McCarter, 15: May Have Been Kidnapped In 1998
Her family didn't report her missing until five days later.
Latisha Hayes McCarter was just 15 years old when she traveled from Oakland, California, to nearby Sacramento to visit her sister. On April 7, 1998, Latisha's sister stated that she and Latisha were walking along Stockton Avenue during daytime hours. While they were out, the sister left Latisha for a moment to walk across the street to buy food from a restaurant. As she exited the establishment to look for Latisha Hayes McCarter, the teenager disappeared.
Witnesses in the area told police that they saw a Black man force Latisha into a copper-colored 1984 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. The man is described as being approximately 25 years old, but his other physical characteristics remain a mystery, including his height and weight. Latisha and her mysterious abductor have never been seen again.
Strangely, Latisha's family didn't officially report her missing to the authorities until five days after she vanished. Few details have been made available in her case, and details remain scarce and unclear.
