A missing teenager’s family spent nearly three decades searching for answers, unaware that her remains had been recovered just a short distance from their Pennsylvania home. In June 2026, advancements in forensic DNA technology finally established that a young woman found murdered in a vacant Wilkinsburg residence in 1999 was Genelle Princess Bradford, an honor student whose disappearance had been classified as a possible runaway case.
The identification has renewed an investigation into her killing and brought scrutiny to how the original case was handled. Genelle’s younger brother, Richard Bradford, has questioned why investigators never connected his missing sister to the unidentified woman discovered in their neighborhood. A former detective assigned to the investigation has since alleged that investigators submitted the wrong dental records for comparison, further complicating the circumstances surrounding the 27-year delay.
Although Genelle’s identity has been confirmed, authorities have not announced an arrest in her murder.
