Christina Voltaire, 22: Disappeared in 2011 Less Than An Hour After Talking To Friend
She mysteriously vanished with little to no evidence.
On January 8, 2011, Charles Pierre-Gilles ran into some bad luck and called on his friend, Christina Voltaire, for help. The friends lived in the same Berkshire Apartments complex in Winter Haven, Florida, but Charles’s car broke down while out. He had to walk home, but stopped by Christina’s apartment to ask if he could borrow her vehicle. This was the last time anyone saw her.
Charles, whose brother, Dieuseul Pierre-Gilles, was once Christina’s boyfriend, said that when he last spoke with her, it was around 7:00 p.m. at her home. She lived in the apartment alone.
Charles stated that Christina was wearing a black robe while sitting in bed, doing her homework, and drinking tea. She told her friend she was feeling under the weather, but allowed Charles to borrow her car. It’s reported that Charles left, locked Christina’s door behind him, and drove back to his broken-down vehicle.

He was gone for about 45 minutes before returning Christina’s car to her apartment. However, when he entered her residence, the 22-year-old wasn’t there.
Yet, The Charley Project reports Christina’s personal items were left behind, including her “purse, laptop, and keys.” There was also the black robe she was last seen wearing. There were no indications that Christina was involved in a fight or a struggle. Further, there weren’t any signs of a break-in.
Christina Voltaire’s Personal Struggles
Christina’s family revealed that the year before going missing, the young woman sadly lost her one-year-old daughter. The cause of death is unknown to the public, but Christina was said to be still grieving. However, she was not suicidal and had plans to move to Palm Bay, Florida, where she would have support from her family.
Christina also wanted to go to Haiti to visit her mother in the coming months and was even considering transferring to another university to continue her higher education. She was studying nuclear medicine.
Meanwhile, an investigation uncovered that Christina Voltaire didn’t leave the country because her passport had expired. Additionally, she didn’t have a mobile phone, so investigators could not check pinged locations. Christina also didn’t have any credit cards, so the police couldn't track her movements through her accounts.
A Look At Christina’s Boyfriend
The Charley Project further states that Christina told relatives Pierre-Gilles was “physically aggressive and jealous.” She was said to have feared him, and Pierre-Gilles reportedly refused to speak with police about his missing girlfriend. He instead retained a lawyer. He also said he and Christina broke up the year before she disappeared after he allegedly learned her daughter was not his. He denies being abusive and insists he had nothing to do with her going missing.
Still, his brother, Charles, was said to have been “extremely cooperative with police” in hopes of finding out what happened to his friend. Pierre-Gilles accused his brother and Christina of being intimately involved, but Charles has denied such claims.
Also, in 2008, Pierre-Gilles did face aggravated assault charges in connection with an unrelated shooting, but he was later acquitted.
Christina Voltaire: What To Know
At the time of her disappearance, Christina Voltaire stood 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighed 120 pounds. She had black/dark brown hair and brown eyes. She had a scar on her abdomen.
