Cassandra Brown: Shot & Killed At Block Party In 2025
She was a witness in a shooting case. One year later, Cassandra Brown was shot and killed. Her son says he knows who pulled the trigger.
A beloved mother from Florida lost her life on June 13 in what her son says was retaliation for her giving testimony at a trial. Last year, Cassandra Brown of Jacksonville, Florida, was a witness in a shooting case. Her son, Calvin Brown, believes this was the catalyst for his mother's tragic death. Further, according to First Coast News, Calvin claims he knows the name of the person responsible. Still, no arrests have been made.
"I know. The whole community knows, the whole community," he said. "So, out of respect for the local law enforcement, I'm going to allow them to do their due diligence and their job."
Cassandra, who was battling breast cancer, was reportedly called as a witness in a case where a woman was convicted of shooting a man. That woman, Carla Hill, was sentenced to life in prison, and after the trial concluded, Calvin shared that his mother began receiving threats. A month before Cassandra was killed, she reportedly called police to file a report about vandalism to her home. She also reported that someone slashed her tires.

“This individual chased my mom around my family member’s car with two guns in his hand,” said Calvin. “My other cousin stepped in front of him and told him I’m not going to allow you to shoot my aunt. My cousin put my mom in the car with her, and she drove off.”
“When she told me he had threatened her, she went to the State Attorney’s Office,” a friend of Cassandra's shared. “I told her that was the right thing to do. I told her that she needed to keep going down there until they get this man off the street.”
