Asia Martin, 19: Went For a Walk & Never Returned In 2005
Police believe Asia walked out and left her life behind but her family thinks differently.
On a Spring evening in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, 19-year-old Asia Martin told her roommate she was going for a walk. It was around 8:40 p.m. on May 27, 2005, when Asia left her home at the Robinson Place Apartments. Her roommate didn't think anything of it and expected Asia to return soon. However, the young woman hasn't been seen or heard from again.
The Charley Project reports there wasn't anything that seemed out of sorts about Asia's background. She spent most of her youth in her hometown of Slidell, Louisiana, with her father, before she made the move to Mississippi in 2003. She was in her junior year of high school, mapping out her higher education. Once she graduated from Petal High School, Asia enrolled at Pearl River Community College. Yet, when her mother fell ill, Asia decided to take a semester off to help care for her family.
Leading Up To The Disappearance
It was learned that just three days before going missing, Asia purchased a bus ticket. She was traveling from Mississippi to Denver, Colorado, to be with her mother. However, when it came time for her to leave, Asia did not make it on the bus. While this reads like a cut-and-dry missing person case, police reportedly did not believe Asia met with foul play. They treated the case as if the 19-year-old simply walked away from her life of her own accord. The girl's family has countered the authorities and is adamant that she would never leave her family without contacting them. Some believe Asia has met with danger.
Sadly, Asia's mother has since passed away. However, her father still awaits news of what may have happened to his daughter.
