Annie Horne, 38: Missing Woman's Husband Linked To 4 Murders
The mother disappeared from Richmond in 2001.
Annie Horne’s missing person case has remained unsolved for nearly two decades, but police believed they cracked the code on what may have happened to her.
June 3, 2001, was the last time anyone had contact with the 38-year-old. At that time, Annie resided on Yorktown Road in Richmond, Virginia, and, according to authorities, her home suggested that she would return.
When investigators took inventory of the residence, Annie’s personal belongings were left behind. Her eyeglasses, clothing, wallet, keys, credit cards, checkbook, Bible, and van were all located. Annie worked as a secretary at an insurance company in 2001, and it was unknown whether her disappearance was connected to her job or to interactions with coworkers.

Meanwhile, Annie’s husband, Thomas Horne, reportedly told Richmond Police that his wife “woke me up gasping for breath, including the night before she disappeared. I gave her mouth-to-mouth, and she went back to sleep.”
Then, in 2022, WTVR News reported that police believed Thomas was involved in her disappearance. Investigators speculated that Annie is deceased and her husband is responsible. He died in 2017. Authorities also tied him to four additional murders, qualifying him to be considered a serial killer. Those cases have reportedly been cleared.
According to the outlet, Thomas and Annie discussed separating. He also stated he last saw her on the morning of January 13, getting dressed.
"It's the hardest thing we had to do, just ask the Lord to give us strength because we know she didn't just openly like leave," Mary Ruffin, Horne's sister, said, in 2022. "She was a loving sister. She was a hard worker. Everybody loved her. She was a people person. And she most definitely loved her family."
